Forest Skills enables children to experience a variety of pratical forestry and bushcraft skills in a woodland environment. Our workshops include:
Health and Safety
Fire Lighting and Camp Cooking
Coppicing and Woodland Management
Class topics are easily adapted to make great use of an outdoor teaching environment. This allows children to gain real-life experience in their subject and enables them to learn through play and creativity. From burying an Anglo-Saxon king to making Eyptian mummies, we get children actively envolved with a range of fun workshops tailored around their class topic.
Wildlife and Environmental Studies
The protection of our natural world is a fundemental part of everything we teach at Forest School. Our site has an abundance of wildlife and much of the woodland is used for conservation. We educate children on how to respect and protect the woodland and everything that lives in it. Our workshops include:
Wildlife and Plant Identification
Wildlife and Habitat Conservation
Being creative is a great way to express yourself. We focus heavily on encouraging children to get making, getting their hands dirty and learning new skills. Our woodland provides a wealth of natural resources to inspire and streatch their imagination. We revive many traditional skills too, from felting and spinning yarn to willow weaving and pottery. These workshops are great for developing technique and dexterity.
